Sharp Blade Dragon Revilstego
G2/ POWER: 8000/ GUARD: 5000
[Activate](V/R):[CB1, retire 1 of your other RG], During this turn all your "Heavy Artillery Dragon Sharangastego" and "Sharp Blade Dragon Levilstego" on your VG and RG circle gets POWER+10000.
The new Dino duo brings us our first look a what the playstyle of Tachikaze is going to be like in the new series of Vanguard. The Accel clan is focused not only on having multiple attacks but strong attacks as well. Both units posses the same skill- at the cost of a counterblast of 1 and retiring an ally rearguard unit during the main phase, all units with the card names "Heavy Artillery Dragon Sharangastego" and "Sharp Blade Dragon Levilstego" gain an incredible 10000 power.
While right off the bat it seems that the G3 version with 12000 base power is far superior to its G2 8000 base counterpart, it important to note that the skill affects all units in all circles and rushing the opponent with as many copies of the cards is ideal. Both units work in tandem to gain substantial power per skill activation, and having the exact same skill, they are both able to trigger off each other, reaching 22000 and 18000 power on their own and form impressive 30000 and 26000 columns respectively with an 8000 boost. However as the numbers themselves don't change very much from a strategic point of view more often than not, they are good enough t to run as front row rear guards without a boost. On Accel markers, they will warrant at least 20000 shield for both the Grade 3 and Grade 2 versions interestingly enough, making it more beneficial for the grade 3s to be run in the main field with boosters behind them, possible with some ther useful support effect.
LAst but not least, it's important to noite that while the skill is highly effective, and can be used multiple times in a single turn, the effect does give a -1 to the tachikaze player each time it is used, as well as needing multiple copies on field for maximum effectiveness. This sacrificing of hand size for multiple ferocious attacks is definitely iconic of accel clans and will likely require some sort of hand size recuperation. Although soulblast costs may replace some counterblast costs, if the old style of Tachikaze is anything to go off, we may see another counterblast heavy clan lacking countercharging, just like Royals.
We will have to wait and and see what other cards come out to support the playstyle and if we will get some retiring and superior calling effects to rush even harder. The boss unit for Tachikaze is going to be Ravenous Dragon Gigarex and it remains to be seen what it's effect will be. Hopefully we'll get a secondary boss unit as a RR or R that can be used for budget decks. The Destructive Roar drops on 29 June 2018, bringing Spike Brothers, Tachikaze and Megacolony into the fold. Personally I'm really looking forward to Megacolony because I really like the athsthetic. Let me know which of the 3 clans is your favourite and which clan release (not limited to these 3) you're most looking forward to and why!
